KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA – Life-like astronauts, compelling-looking moon landers and advanced LED screen technology helped NASA fake its first moon landing in over fifty years this week, an achievement the space agency is heralding as another giant leap for mankind.
“This is truly an historic moment for the agency,” stated NASA spokesman Dwight Turner. “Faking a moon landing is no easy feat. It’s so difficult, in fact, it hasn’t been done since 1969, when the original fake moon landing happened,” Mr Turner pointed out. “Almost 55 years ago. Let that sink in.”
“In the 1960s, the hoax lunar landing was done with far inferior technology and a fraction of the budget we have in the 2020s,” Dan Webster, a former NASA official, told reporters. “But Americans are smarter and more visually savvy today; they require government hoaxes to be so convincing that they could be mistaken as real.”
To pull off the fake moon landing, NASA created a dream team of the best scientific and creative minds coupled with the most innovative and advanced movie and gaming technology. With a budget of just $25 billion, however, the agency wasn’t sure it had the necessary resources to pull the wool over the public’s eyes once again.
“For NASA, seeing is believing. So, at the end of the day, we felt staying within budget is secondary to creating a believable fake lunar mission,” Director of AeroSpace Operations Spencer Love stated. “After all, we can always ask congress for more taxpayer money.”
